In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

The gold standard in assisted reproduction — giving nature a helping hand.

What is In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)?

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is the most widely used and successful assisted reproductive technology in the world. It involves retrieving eggs from the ovaries, fertilising them with sperm in a specialised laboratory, and transferring the resulting embryo(s) into the uterus. At Ova IVF, our internationally trained embryologists and fertility specialists guide you through every stage with clinical precision and compassionate care.

Who is this for?

  • Couples with blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
  • Women with ovulation disorders or endometriosis
  • Couples with unexplained infertility
  • Male factor infertility (low sperm count or motility)
  • Couples who have not succeeded with other treatments (IUI, OI)
  • Women of advanced reproductive age

Key Benefits

Highest success rates among ART procedures
Suitable for a wide range of infertility causes
Allows embryo genetic testing (PGT)
Excess embryos can be frozen for future use
Internationally proven and evidence-based
Personalised protocols for each patient

Step-by-Step Procedure

A clear, transparent walkthrough of every stage of your IVF treatment at Ova IVF.

01

Initial Consultation & Assessment

A comprehensive review of both partners’ medical history, hormonal profile, semen analysis, and uterine evaluation to confirm IVF suitability and design your personalised protocol.

02

Ovarian Stimulation

Daily hormone injections (gonadotropins) stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple follicles. Progress is monitored closely via serial ultrasound scans and blood tests over 8–14 days.

03

Trigger Injection

Once follicles reach optimal maturity (18–20mm), a trigger injection (hCG or GnRH agonist) is administered to finalise egg maturation, precisely timed 34–36 hours before retrieval.

04

Egg Retrieval (Oocyte Pick-Up)

Under light sedation, a fine needle guided by transvaginal ultrasound aspirates the follicular fluid containing eggs. The procedure takes 20–30 minutes and is performed in our clinic.

05

Sperm Preparation & Fertilisation

On the same day, a semen sample is processed in the laboratory. Mature eggs are inseminated with prepared sperm (conventional IVF) or via ICSI. Fertilisation is confirmed 16–18 hours later.

06

Embryo Culture & Grading

Fertilised eggs (embryos) are cultured in our incubators for 3–5 days. Embryologists monitor development daily and grade embryos by quality to select the best for transfer.

07

Embryo Transfer

One or two high-quality embryos are gently placed into the uterine cavity using a thin catheter under ultrasound guidance. The procedure is painless and takes only a few minutes.

08

Luteal Phase Support

Progesterone supplementation (pessaries, injections, or gel) supports the uterine lining and early implantation for approximately two weeks after transfer.

09

Pregnancy Test

A blood beta-hCG test is performed 12–14 days after embryo transfer to confirm pregnancy. Our team provides full support regardless of the outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many IVF cycles will I need?

Most couples achieve pregnancy within 2–3 cycles. Success rates depend on age, diagnosis, and embryo quality. Our specialists will give you a realistic prognosis at your consultation.

Is IVF painful?

The injections cause mild discomfort and the egg retrieval is performed under sedation. Most patients return home the same day and resume normal activities within 24 hours.

What are the risks of IVF?

The main risks include Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS), multiple pregnancy, and a small risk of ectopic pregnancy. Our team monitors you closely to minimise these risks.

How long does one IVF cycle take?

A full IVF cycle from stimulation to pregnancy test takes approximately 4–6 weeks.
